Question for you

Transfer students, why did you choose to go to a community college rather than a four-year school? We want to hear from you.

  1. Well, I have a long story behind my decision. I did my high school from Pakistan. I was a great student but never took examinations seriously (i was more of fun going person) so, my grades wouldnt let me get to a four-year school. Then when i came to know that NOVA had open admission policy, i realized that this is it if i mess up this chance, i'm done! So, I started taking my education seriously, aced the NOVA placement tests (well, almost) and am off to a great path towards a four-year school!

  2. Muhammad, this is one of the goals of our community college. I am glad that NOVA is providing the opportunity for you to transfer later to a four-year school. We want to remove barriers for those who want higher education. Do you see any barriers that we still could do better to remove or change while you are here at NOVA? Thank you for writing!

  3. One of the main reasons was that NOVA is cheaper than any other school around. Also, I had done a dual enrollment class my junior year, and already had experience with the campus, and I had liked what I saw. Now that I have a job, I am happy for the flexible schedules and numerous online/hybrid classes.

  4. Andrew, you have pointed out several of the advantages that community colleges can offer. We know that many of our students attend NOVA and work part time at least, if not full time.
